Madonna Inn was an overnight stay in our Pacific Coast Highway road trip. It's located in the town of San Luis Obispo, off the iconic highway 101. I came across this wild eclectic hotel while doing research for our trip and I was very intrigued by it. I mean- pink glitter walls, cave rooms, rock fireplaces, waterfall showers, it's crazy and there are 110 rooms to choose from. There are no two rooms the same.

The Madonna Inn was first opened in 1958 and it was originally 12 rooms. The Inn was created by Alex Madonna (nothing to do with the Madonna we all know) and his wife Phyllis. From the start Alex was in charge of the structure and Phyllis of the interiors. There are over 100 whimsical guestrooms at the Madonna Inn, each with its own name and unique design. Some of the unusual names are Yahoo, Cloud Nine, Just Heaven, Caveman Room, Daisy Mae, Safari Room, Rock Bottom and Love Nest. We stayed in the "Merry" room which was an amazing pink glitter room (more coming soon in a later post).
