On our latest vacation we headed to the West Coast. We decided to do the Pacific Coast Highway road trip in November. We began our trip in San Francisco, this was my first time visiting this city and I loved it! We flew into Oakland airport and rented a car to drive into San Francisco. The best time to visit is from April-May or September-November. We had perfect weather with plenty of sunshine and without fog (we got lucky!).
Some of the best places to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge:
Fort Point, Crissy Field, Vista Point, and on the bridge (bike, walk, drive).

A San Francisco must do is checking out the Painted Ladies, commonly known as the "Full House" houses. This is one of the most photographed locations in San Francisco located across the Alamo Square Park.
Another must do is walking or driving down twisty Lombard Street, also known as the "Crooked Street." Wear comfortable shoes, this is definitely not the city to wear high-heels. Bring a jacket (even in summer) and dress in layers. It gets very cold especially near the bay.
We stayed at the Axiom Hotel in downtown San Francisco. It's in a great location near many  restaurants and plenty of shopping with easy access to the BART and cable car. Keep in mind, if you are renting a car there is valet parking available. Parking is very limited and pricey in San Francisco everywhere you go/stay.
I recommend wandering around Fisherman's Wharf and stopping at Ghirardelli Square to have an amazing ice cream sundae.
Don't forget to ride a cable car! This was my favorite experience in this city. I truly enjoyed the round-trip ride on the Powell/Hyde Street route, right outside our hotel. It's $7 one-way for all ages and we paid cash once we got on the cable car. You can also purchase tickets on MuniMobile app, the SFMTA's official ticketing app. Getting around is not the easiest for a first-timer in this city. I recommend Uber to bounce from spot to spot. We tried walking but there are A LOT of steep hills around the city.

Breakfast/Brunch:
Mama's on Washington Square, Dottie's True Blue Cafe, Brenda's French Soul Food.
Lunch/Dinner:
The Italian Homemade Company, Boudin Bakery and Cafe, Nopa.

Hope you enjoy my quick travel guide to San Francisco! As we only spent 2 days in the city these are the things I thought were the most important to see and do in our limited time there. But keep in mind there are many other things to do and experience! With love, Karla
